Google DeepMind nears launch of Gemini 4 AI model: report

Google is nearing the launch of its next-generation Gemini 4 AI model, Google (GOOG) (GOOGL) DeepMind chief Koray Kavukcuoglu announced Wednesday during The Information’s AI Agenda Live Summit.
The development comes as the company races to catch up with competitors Anthropic (ANTHRO) and OpenAI (OPENAI) in the AI model market, while Meta (META) Platforms’ AI products also won increasing popularity in September.
Kavukcuoglu, the new top leader of Google DeepMind, said on Wednesday that Gemini 4 is in the early stages of post-training, a development phase where a base AI model is refined to ensure reliable performance.
